Aqualyng A/S (“Aqualyng”) is a global operator in the international desalination market. The company is currently in the process of commissioning one of the world’s largest desalination plants in China.
Founded in 1998 in Norway, the company’s of state-of-the-art desalination products and services deliver fresh water – whenever and wherever it is needed. Aqualyng’s expertise rests in designing and operating desalination plants based on the reverse osmosis process. Utilizing its own IP/technology, Aqualyng’s plants are recognized as highly cap-ex and energy efficient. Aqualyng’s modular desalination components allow for reduced assembly times and for rapidly scalable plants.
Origo invested in Aqualyng in 2008 and has witnessed the company’s rapid expansion in China. A breakthrough joint venture was signed with Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited (“BEWG”) in 2010 to expand desalination projects in China. BEWG and Aqualyng will, as their first joint activity in China, construct a 50 000m3/day reverse osmosis desalination plant to serve the water needs of the Caofeidian Industrial Zone in China. The two companies will operate the plant during the 30-year term of a signed off-take agreement together with the Tangshan Caofeidian Infrastructure Construction Investment Co. Ltd (“IIC”).
Origo expects Aqualyng to benefit from the ongoing infrastructure build out in China and the severe water shortages experienced in the country.
